ULID Generator

Generate ULID identifiers in the browser, or decode one to the millisecond timestamp it stores. Each ID is 26 Crockford Base32 characters: time first, then randomness, so the text sorts by creation time. Uses the Web Crypto RNG. Nothing is uploaded.

About this tool

Generate ULID identifiers in the browser: 26 Crockford Base32 characters with a millisecond timestamp prefix and 80 bits of randomness. Make one ID or a list of up to 100, or paste existing IDs to read the time they encode.

How to use: pick Generate, set the count, and copy. IDs created in one click share a timestamp and increase the random part so the list stays sorted. Decode accepts one ULID per line, ignores letter case, and treats I, L, and O as Crockford aliases.

Example: a generated ID decodes to a UTC instant plus the random suffix. Use these for database primary keys, event ids, and log lines where you want sortable ids without a server.

Randomness comes from crypto.getRandomValues. Nothing is stored. Related: the UUID generator for RFC 4122 v4 and v7, and the random string tool for custom tokens.
